After the Wall Street Crash of 1929, The Green & Green Company was acquired by The Sunshine Biscuit Company, founded in 1902 as the Loose-Wiles Biscuit Company. The Keebler Company acquired Sunshine in 1996, and Keebler was in turn acquired by Kellogg in 2001. Cheez-It crackers are still sold under the Sunshine label.

Several Native American cultures, such as the Ojibwa, consider wild rice (known as manoomin in Ojibwa) to be a sacred component in their culture. The rice is harvested with a canoe. One person knocks rice into the canoe with a two small poles (called "knockers" or flails) while the other paddles slowly or uses a push pole. For these groups, this harvest is an important cultural (and often economic) event.

In 1952, The Saddlemen were renamed Bill Haley with Haley's Comets, and in 1953, Haley's recording of "Crazy Man, Crazy" became the first rock and roll song to hit the American charts, peaking at No.15 on Billboard and No.11 on Cash Box. Soon after, the band's name was revised to Bill Haley & His Comets.

Westmoreland County, Connecticut was a county in Connecticut in the present day area of Wyoming Valley, Pennsylvania, until it was ceded to Pennsylvania in 1784, of which it now forms the northeastern corner. It briefly seceded to become the State of Westmoreland. It has no relationship to the current Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, which is located on the opposite side of Pennsylvania.
