You may, and should, ask about the pay for the job you are applying for, but you should never ask the interviewer personal questions about anything.

All of these questions are appropriate for an interviewer to ask. Be sure that you have thought of answers to questions such as these before you go to your interview.

Eye contact is very important because it demonstrates that you are listening and interested in what the interviewer is saying.

Always shake hands, smile and say thank you after an interview. It tells the interviewer that you value their time.

It is important to be clean, neat and well groomed, but what you wear depends on the job you are applying for. If you were applying to be a playground assistant, showing up in a suit or high heels might send the message that you are not ready to work, or that you are over qualified. A sweat suit would not be appropriate for an office positon interview.

It is considered rude or unprofessional to have your cell phone ring during an interview. Allowing your phone to ring tells the interviewer that the interview is not as important as the phone call.

Your attention should be focused on the person who is interviewing you at all times! Smile, speak in a pleasant voice and maintain eye contact. Your handshake should be firm and confident.

A perspective employer may not ask your age, disability or anything about your personal relationships. They may ask if you are over 18 or 21 because of job duties. You need to be over 18 or 21 to operate certain equipment or to serve/sell alcohol. There are limits on work hours if you are under 18 as well. You may be asked if you have any physical limitation where it pertains to the job you are applying for ONLY.
