      1. The Naqshbandi tariqa is the only sufi order which traces its spiritual lineage through...
        1. Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (ra)
        2. Umar ibn al-Khattab (ra)
        3. Uthman ibn Affan (ra)
        4. Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra)
        1. There are 41 tariqats (Sufi Orders). Forty of them springing from the heart of Imam Ali,
and one, the Naqshabandi order, coming from the heart of Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, (may Allah
          be pleased with them).

      2. It is said that the souls of all who follow the Naqshbandi way were present...
        1. at the battle of Uhud.
        2. during the construction of the Kabaa.
        3. in the cave of Thawr.
        4. during the farewell pilgrimage.
        1. ...Abu Bakr as-Siddiq was overjoyed and astounded with what took place in that cave, and he understood why the Prophet (saw) had chosen him to be the companion of his migration. The Naqshbandi Shaykhs consider the events in the cave as the foundation of the Tariqat. Not only is it the source of the awrad (devotion) but the souls of all members of the Order were present together at that time.

      3. The word "Naqshband" has the meaning...
        1. the link that all souls carry with eachother.
        2. to engrave God's name in the heart of the seeker.
        3. a city in jannah.
        4. a vehicle to the divine.
        1. Naqshbandiyya means to "tie the Naqsh very well." The Naqsh is the perfect engraving of Allah's Name in the heart of the murid.

      4. The seeker in our way should complete his/her awrad...
        1. daily.
        2. weekly.
        3. only at special gatherings.
        4. during the sohbet of the shaykh.
        1. Whoever wishes to obtain these virtues, must keep these awrad daily along with his obligations. Then he will gain True Life and Eternal Life.

      5. It is said that our murshid looks at his mureeds...
        1. when they travel by car, boat, or plane.
        2. after they visit his home.
        3. on Laylat ul-Qadr.
        4. three times during each day.
        1. Our Grandshaykh says, we must be awakened for everything coming contrary to our liking and be ready to tolerate it. This is the real station of faith. Three times a day a shaykh looks to his seekers, but not with a looking to give them pleasure, intead they are looking to send something to the seeker that he will never like. Are you patient, or giving up? When you are patient, your heart is given satisfaction, and a light comes on your real eyes and more faith comes to you. At each opportunity you may advance or regress. This time is particularly filled up with unliked things, the world is full of evils and devils. The Prophet said, "to keep religion in this time is more difficult than to keep fire in one's hand." We must be patient. Allah gives to those enduring unliked things endless reward. It is the way of real faith, like the way of Prophets and of Saints, to endure the badness of people.

      6. For followers of our way, Islamic shariah is...
        1. recommended, but optional.
        2. an absolute requirement.
        3. of little concern.
        4. only needed until we reach the state of oneness with God.
        1. The Naqshbandis have always been very orthodox, staunch defenders of the Shari’ah and emulators of the Sunnah.  Throughout Islamic history they have played a most important role in the preservation and spread of Islam especially under conditions of duress while of course having as their central aims the spiritual, inner perfection of their followers.  But they have always sought to preserve a balance between the esoteric and exoteric, avoiding excesses which one might observe elsewhere.

      7. The primary difference in the method of our way and that of other tariqas is...
        1. we feed our egos until they are satisfied.
        2. we attain true consciousness through breathing techniques.
        3. the Shaykh serves the will of the mureed.
        4. the unveiling process is in reverse order.
        1. There are 70,000 veils between us and the Station of the Prophet (s). A Naqshbandi Master rends these veils in descending order, starting with those closest to the Divine Presence and then successively downwards towards the level of the murid. This process continues throughout the training of the murid, until there is but one veil, the Veil of Humanity ( ijab al-bashariyya), restraining the murid's vision from contemplation of the Divine Reality. In order to protect the murid from attraction to something other than his Lord, however, the GrandShaykh does not rend that last veil until the murid reaches the highest state of perfection, or until his final seven breaths on his deathbed.
